I think you learn most about Blanches character within the first two scenes although some of these impressions maybe false.Within her first conversation with Stella she comes across as very open, speaking freely and plentifully but later on we see how closed she is with a lot of history that she tries to keep hidden. She also becomes a lot frailer she is described as a moth having to avoid bullocky light but as the play goes on she is shown in light and we see how old and decayed she really is. We discover in the first two scenes that Blanche is an alcoholic, and shows she is unable to control it I never had your beautiful self-control. She also shows that she is secretive about this and deceitful to Stella when the subject occurs. This shows a side of Blanches character that develops through the play as we see how much she is hiding and lying about to Stella and Stanley. I do think Blanches appearance is of her true character right through the play though, as Williams describes her daintily dressed that her appearance is incongruous to this setting of a rough neighbourhood and that Her delicate beauty must avoid strong light. I think these descriptions show more of Blanches character than the way she acts or what she says at the beginning because you are able to tell straight away she is fragile, utilize to posh places and could be quite snobby and that she cares about her appearance. This may be true in all cases, but it is clearly predominant in Ernest Hemingways Old Man and the Sea. It is evident that Hemingway modeled the main character, Santiago after his possess person, and that the desires, the mentality, and the lifestyle of the old military personnel are analogous to Hemingways.     Santiago is an old fisherman who lives in a small coast town in Cuba. At the time that Hemingway wrote the story, he was also an elderly gentlemen and was such an avid fisherman throughout his life, that books such as "Ernest Hemingway, The Angler As Artist were written on the sole subject of how this obsession influenced Hemingways writing. Furthermore, he fished false the coast of Cuba so much that he decided to "buy the Finca Vigia in Cuba, a substantial estate located about fifteen miles from downtown capital of Cuba . . . For entertainment Santiago would "read the baseball." Meanwhile Hemingway often "relied on baseball analog ies in his writing, suggesting that he also loved the game. These similarities between Santiagos lifestyle and Hemingways cannot be do by or passed off as coincidence because they are much too precise. Already, from these prominent identical traits it is evident that Hemingway modeled the character of Santiago after his own person.     Hemingway had a very characteristic view of life. He believed it was admirable to risk ones life in order to test ones limits. His love of bullfighting clearly present this. Raymond S. Nelson, Hemingway scholar, states, "He saw bullfighting as tragic ritual, and he lionized the better bullfighters as men who risked death every time they entered the arena -- a stance he admired and chose for himself in other ways." One example of Hemingway choosing this stance for himself was when "he shot and dropped a charging Cape buffalo a few feet in the lead the enraged animal would have killed him." This daring act of Hemi ngways sounds peculiarly similar to the sport of bullfighting, and is an excellent example of Hemingways obsession with courting death. Scholar, John Smith believes that "Hemingways totally life and outlook suggest that, if he had known in advance of this deadly possibility, he would have embraced it even more enthusiastically." Very similarly, and not so coincidentally, Santiago had this very same mindset. He also believes in testing ones limits and admits as much when he tells himself, ". . . I will show him what a man can do and what a man endures.

Cochlear ImplantsA cochlear insert is an electronic device that restores hearing for people anywhere from hard of hearing to the profoundly deaf. The cochlear implant is surgically implanted under the skin female genital organ the ear. The surgeon puts the electrode array inside the inner ear and than inside the cochlea. The implant works by a device outside the ear, which rests on the skin behind the ear. It is held upright by a magnet and is also connected by a lead to a sound professor. What happens when you get a cochlear implant? First, you are given an injection to make you fall asleep. Once youre asleep the hair behind your ear is shaved off. Then you have the operation tat usually lasts from 2-4 hours. The doctor cuts behind your ear and puts the implant into the bone right there. Next he places an electrical array the curls inside your cochlea. When you wake up you are sent home for a few days to rest. After you are all rest you go to an audiologist to get the sound profe ssor programmed. The sound professor is a main part is allowing you to hear when you have a cochlear implant and when its not in, you wont hear anything. Once the sound professor is programmed you with be able to hear. The cochlear implant uses a much different mode to enable a person to hear opposed to a normal hearing ear.
